About Us
The Mount Vernon Republican Women (MVRW) is a member of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women (VFRW) and the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW).
Our
objectives are to foster loyalty to the Republican Party and to promote
its ideals; to encourage women in the cause of good government through
active participation; to work for the election of Republican Party
nominees; to work with the Fairfax County Republican Committee and to
promote an informed electorate through political education.
Our members are strong, patriotic
Americans dedicated to the principles of the Republican party. We
welcome husbands (and their male friends) to our meetings and are
pleased when they take strong interest in a particular speaker or
program. We also welcome associate members. Associates include women
who belong to another RWC (Republican Women's Club) and want to be part of our group as well as
women who cannot attend regular meetings but want to be involved as
much as they can. We also welcome men, as associate members.

How Often Does the Club Meet?
Member meetings are typically held on the third (3rd) Thursday of every month.
Where we meet depends on the speaker or event planned. Meetings are
held in various venues such as private homes, restaurants, libraries,
public buildings, etc. Times and formats vary to give every member an
opportunity to attend several meetings a year and are typically
luncheon, dinner or dessert & coffee events. During the months of
July and August our club goes on summer hiatus.
Programs, Activities and Information
Because
we all have competing priorities with work, family or other
involvements the MVRW offers many volunteer opportunities to members.
Whatever your situation there is an opportunity for you to make a
positive contribution!
The
club provides members with a variety of programs, activities and
information. Speakers
and programs allow us to be well informed on issues important to women
from the local to the national level; meet candidates; listen and
interact with elected officials on the local and state level; attend
special events (such as Legislative Day, the VFRW Convention, the NFRW
Biennial Convention), state conventions, regional
or national conferences or conventions; coordinate outreach to our
community; and socialize with like minded women.
Membership Eligibility
Any
Republican woman believing in the principles of the Republican party
and advocating support of its candidates is eligible for membership.
| Classes of Membership
Active Member:
Active members are current or past residents in the Commonwealth of
Virginia; they hold full membership in one Virginia local club and pay
all dues; they are eligible to make motions and vote, to hold office
and to serve on committees and as a delegate to state and national
conventions.
Associate Member: An associate member is a
woman who is a member of another Republican Women's club (RWC).
Associate members have limited rights and privileges - they cannot make
motions or vote, be on committees, hold office or be counted for the
purpose of determining the number of delegates to state or national
federation meetings or conventions.
There
are many reasons associate members have for enjoying their association
with us such as community efforts, campaign activities, fellowship and
receiving newsletters and other communication.
Republican Men:
Republican men may be eligible for associate membership upon payment of
required annual dues. Some but certainly not all of our male associate
members are spouse of members. Republican men have the same limited
rights and privileges as other associate members.
